A few days ago Chris and Ethan were playing. Chris would run to one end of the house and Ethan would chase him. This went on until the inevitable happened...they crashed...I could almost feel the pain as Chris' lip got smashed between his teeth and Ethan's head. Of course they were both crying. I kissed Ethan's head and "magically" it was all better. But I just couldn't seem to calm Chris down. He just kept crying and crying and crying. (Usually it's the other way around). So I was trying all of the "it's not bleeding" , "I know that hurt, I'm sorry you got hurt"...nothing was working. Finally Chris said "Mom, I'm sad." Usually after he tells you why he's sad then suddenly it's all better; so I asked "Why are you sad." He said "Mom, I hurt Ethan." That was special to me. He wasn't even worried about the fact that he was hurting, he just knew that his brother got hurt and he was the cause (not really, but that's how he saw it)...and that hurt him worse than his smashed lip.
I have been so home-sick for Butte lately. I like how when we lived there I kept waiting for the "welcome wagon" to wear off. You know when you go to church and everyone is all "Hi, so glad you're here. How are you liking it here..." etc. , etc. , etc. And every Sunday when my Mom and Dad would call they'd ask how the church was there in Butte. I would always tell them "I will tell you after after they get to normal and the whole "welcome wagon" thing gets old." Then one Sunday when I told them that I realized that I had been there for 6 months already. I finally decided that wasn't just the "Oh, there's a new family in the ward let's make them feel welcome until they aren't the new guys anymore"...that's just how they are. The welcome wagon here has disbanded. I mean don't get me wrong, they are still real nice and all, but I just wish I were back in Butte. Unfourtunately the only job that was hiring there at the time we would have been making 20-25 thousand dollars less a year than we are now. That would really suck. I almost just want to head down to Butte just for the weekend or something. It would be nice, I don't suppose it'll probablly happen, but it would still be nice.
The most important part of the story is the ending...no one reads a book to get to the middle.

So Scary!!!
I got an e-mail from a friend of mine in Butte that I thought should be shared. I trust the source, it's a true story that needs to be taken seriously. I thought our blog would be a great place to make sure that people hear about it. This is the e-mail that I got (with names removed).
Dear Family & Friends,
Two weeks ago I got a call from our FBI friend’s wife (also my counselor in YW) for permission to discuss Internet Safety to our youth. Earlier that day her husband got a call from the Salt Lake City FBI asking if he knew the whereabouts of one of our Young Women. She was safe at home. They arrested a man in SLC for the murders of 80+ girls. As of two weeks ago they had almost 90 bodies in connection with this man. They found that he had several pictures of several girls with one target being the girl in our YW. This man was in our town last month with no “business” being here. This is still under FBI investigation and details have not been released yet.
So, how did he get her information? Believed he “Hacked”(not invited) into her Facebook account & downloaded pictures & collected information about her whereabouts. PLEASE be very cautious as to what you post on the internet even on password protected sites. Do NOT post any future plans, scheduled events, pictures that could be used to arouse, name of schools, home address, phone #’s. Also check the backgrounds of your photos to be sure house #’s & other identifying info is not there. Be cautious not only of what your kids are posting but also what you might be posting about them. I am still sick to my stomach & on the verge of tears when I think about this and how close we could have come to looking for another abused dead body whom I call friend.
The thought of this happening in Butte, Montana really scared me. The thought that this young girl could have been gone before she even knew she was in danger. Just be careful of what you post and remember that others can see things that you post even if you don't invite them to see them. There are always ways around these types of things for those who know how.

Jon's birthday
Yesterday was Jon’s birthday. He had a GREAT birthday (computers don’t do sarcasm very well, so I will let you know…that was sarcastic). His parents had been down to see Justin (and the rest of us…but mostly Justin LOL) they left in the morning. Since it was Memorial Day, Jon had the day off, so he decided that it would be a good time to do the online driver’s school. He got a speeding ticket earlier this year (I know….big surprise huh?) and if he took this online course then the ticket wouldn’t go on his record. And (technically) the course took a minimum of 3 hours…it took WAY longer than that though because he had to stop every 20 minutes or so because our stupid computer would freeze up. So then he would have to wait for it to reboot and all that good stuff. So it took pretty much all day. Jon wanted to go to Apple Bees for his birthday dinner; so when we finally got there (at around 8:00) we were a little hungry. So we ordered our food; Jon wanted the steak and shrimp…he likes his steak a little pink in the middle…so that’s how he ordered it. I ordered a hamburger and 2 kids meals with milk for the boys. So the waiter brings out our drinks…and spills nearly the entire cup of Chris’ milk RIGHT INTO JON’S LAP. So the waiter brings him some towels, and the dry towel must have been the dusting rag because Jon got to smell like pledge after that. Then they brought our food. Personally, if I am having a steak, I like it well done. I would rather have it a little burned than ANY pink in the middle…but that steak was so burned that even I wouldn’t have eaten it. Of course now days you’re afraid to send it back either. Not only was the steak burned beyond recognition but it was only about --------------------------------------- this big, I’m not exaggerating either…that was a tiny steak. And my burger was also burned…it was crunchy…I don’t like my burgers crunchy. They even burned the bun (that takes talent) and the milk shake was about as thick as milk…but at least they didn’t burn the milk shake too. Hehehe. I felt worse for Jon though because #1 HE was the one that got milk in his lap and #2 this was his birthday dinner. So he asked if we could go to Chinese later in the week for a “make up birthday dinner”. I told him that would be more than fine. Then after that we got to go do his favorite thing in the world (sarcasm again)…shopping. We needed to go, we were completely out of milk and bread and nearly out of a few other things. So by the time we got back he had missed his Star Craft game (I felt a little guilty for not really feeling guilty about that though…it’s a terrible thing to say, but it’s true). Well, maybe we could count the Star Trek movie as part of his birthday. While Jon’s parents were down, they babysat while we went to the movies. Anyone who likes the original Star Trek would love this movie…and those who don’t. I’m not a big fan of the original Star Trek, I’m more of a TNG type. But it was really funny. Just the right amount of action, the right amount of romance and the right amount of comedy…one too many “sex scenes” though…which is to say they had ONE (it was less than 30 seconds long…but that‘s about 30 seconds more than they needed). They found out important information in that scene that was important to the plot of the movie…but as far as I’m concerned they could have found out that information in a less smutty sort of way. All in all it was really good movie though. I’m definitely going to get it when it’s out on video. I found my new favorite line from a movie in this movie. They had Spock and a future 80 year old Spock talking to each other and when they were getting ready to say good bye to each other the older Spock says “I would bid you farewell with the traditional Vulcan farewell, but that seems needless and self-serving. So instead I will say (doing the “live long and prosper” hand gesture) “Farewell, and Good Luck”…that doesn’t sound as funny out of context…but it was really funny. Other than that, not too much has been going on here lately.

I'm going to throw this computer off a cliff!!!!
This computer lost my blog...AGAIN! So I will write what I remember. I was just catching up since I haven't been able to get on to my computer for so long.
The other day I was downstairs and I heard a loud THUMP and then I heard Topher crying. I went up to investigate and found him laying on the floor and the curtain hanging from the wall. I could guess what happened; he'd been hanging from the curtain and it couldn't hold his weight. And that's the story he told me when I questioned him about it. It was about time for my doctor's appointment so after consoling him I said "How about we go and get Daddy? But first we are going to go to McDonald's for a happy meal and then we are going to go get Daddy. Does that sound like a good plan?" He says "No, not a good plan." I'm not sure which he loves more...a happy meal or going to get Jon. So I questioned why that didn't sound like a good plan. He said "No want a happy meal Mom...I'm sad."
A few days after that I was downstairs and after only a few minutes I heard some hysterical laughing (the 2 older boys) then silence...then laughing and silence. Any Mother knows that when there is a newborn upstairs that the kids can't stay away from and a 3 year old and a 1 year old that has to do EVERYTHING the 3 year old does and you hear THAT kind of laughing...it's reason to worry. So I hurried upstairs and sure enough - the 2 older boys were sitting in Justin's bassinet (thankfully the pack n' play one...the other one would have tipped over with all 3 of them in there) they would rock the bassinet and then laugh. They both were having a great time...I'm not so sure about Justin, but Topher and Ethan were having fun. LOL. I wish there were a handbook for this sort of thing. I needed to discipline them both enough so they know that's not alright (they have a hard time understanding why it's OK for Chris and Ethan to play that way, but not Justin), but at the same time I need just the right amount of understanding so that the 2 older boys don't associate Justin with getting yelled at or something.
Our house is finally starting to look like a house instead of a storage unit ;) How in the world Sarah S. got her house all together (and a dinner party 2 days after moving in) is beyond me...she must be super woman or something...it takes us ALOT longer than that to unpack. Jon's Mom and Dad are coming down this weekend, I'm excited about that. Jon and I are finally going to get a little while away from the boys (YEAH!) Jon was laughing at me yesterday because I just didn't want to do anything and he said "You know my Mom is coming this weekend...you'd better get the house cleaned...you know how judgemental she is." He still likes to tease me about the first time I met his Mom. I think I just imagined her as a stereo typical "mother-in-law". You know the whole "You'll NEVER be good enough for my son." , "I'm going to go through your house with a white glove and whine and complain about any speck of dirt that I find." kind of a lady. Then after I met her he really made fun of me because she is about as opposite from that stereotype as is humanly possible. So he makes sure to tease me about that as often as he can. LOL.

Catching up...
I don't think I will ever be able to get on here again. We still (technically) don't have the internet, so I will try to remember all the things that I was going to write (sorry, it might be a little long)...so I will just write a quick blurb, about each thing, so one story will have nothing to do with the next.
The other day I was downstairs when I heard a thump and Topher crying. So I went upstairs to see what was going on. I saw Topher on the floor and the curtain hanging half way off the wall. I figured he'd tried to climb on the curtain; when I questioned him about it, sure enough, that's what happened. It was about time for us to leave to go get Jon for my Dr.'s appointment so after consoling him I said "We need to go get Daddy today. So we are going to go to McDonalds and get a happy meal and then we are going to go get Daddy. Does that sound like a good plan." Normally this is the part where (between sobs) he would say "Yeah, go get Dad". So I was surprised when he told me it didn't sound like a good plan. And I was even more surprised when I asked why and he said "Mom, no happy meal." (this kid LIVES for happy meals). I asked him why he didn't want a happy meal and he said "Mom, no happy meal...I'm sad..."
I like that the boys like their little brother, but sometimes I wish they didn't like him quite so much. I went downstairs for just a minute to check on some insurance info. I heard the older 2 boys laughing...then silence...then more laughing. (Any mother knows that's reason for concern when you have a new baby that they can't stay away from. LOL) I figured I'd better go and see what was going on. Apparently they had both climed into the pack n' play bassinet with Justin and would rock back and forth and then laugh...then rock some more. (Thankfully at least the legs of the bassinet stayed firmly on the ground). I wish there was a handbook on how to handle a situation like this..you know, to tell the right amount to punish. Because I know they are playing with him because they like him (they don't understand how that could hurt him) They need enough punishment so they understand we don't do that, but enough understanding so that they don't associate the baby with being yelled at (I don't want Justin to end up being the outcast because I yelled at the boys too much about hurting Justin...ahhh, the joys of parenting.
Our house is finally comming together - we are not COMPLETELY surrounded by boxes anymore. I am really begining to hate all the little things that really don't have a place or purpose, but for some reason you just can't get rid of it. And I just want to cry every time I see a box that the mover have marked "papers". This house is a little smaller than the one we just moved from in Pocatello, so even the things that had a place there still don't have a place here. And I can't just get rid of the stuff that doesn't have a place because the biggest problem area is in the kitchen. Where there is room for food OR the pans and whatnot that you need to cook the food. Right now, I haven't found a place for both. So we are trying to decide how to make room so that everything can have a place (that's not in the middle of the floor in a box). Well, we have Stake Conference today, so we have early church. And I can't think of anything else to say, so that will be all for now...hey, that wasn't as long of a blog as I thought it would be.

A million and 3 things down....and nothing left to do.
(This stupid thing just erased my whole blog entry...so if I leave out some information...sorry).
We finally had our baby on May 01st. A boy. Justin Michael Egeland. 7 pounds , 19-1/4" long. I think that he is tied (a 3-way tie of course) for the cutest baby I have ever seen in my life! LOL. He looks just like some of Jon's baby pictures. Jon said it was about time we had a baby that looked like him. It looks like he might have the darker skin too, but we will have to wait and see. I really like the hospital too (I delivered at Evanston...thank you to everyone who warned me about Rock Springs hospital). That is such a great hospital. It was the first time that I have ever had a good Doctor and good Nurses. With Chris My doctor was good but the nurse was a yahoo. With Ethan the doctor was a dip-weed and the nurse was the best nurse ever. At Evanston every single medical person that I had to deal with was wonderful. Not a rotten one in the bunch. And I LOVE the way they do anesthesia. In Butte they just gave you enough to make the labor pain almost bareable...and then they let it wear off just before the "pushing stage". I thought that's how they all did it. But this time I had a continuous epidural. I really really really like those. ;) When the nurse came in and asked if I had felt any change in pressure in my abdomen, I told her I had not. So she said she was going to check me to see how much longer I had. She started to check, but instead turned toward the door and yelled "Dr. Evans! We need you in here NOW!" It scared me a little 'cause I didn't know if something was wrong. Then the nurse said "Well, we have a head of hair." then 2 1/2 pushes later Jon was delivering a baby. (I know, how lucky am I? This was by far my easiest delivery). The Dr. had to cut the cord though because it was wrapped around his neck. I only got to hold him for a few minutes though because they had to take him to the nursery to give him some oxygen (he's fine now). I thought it was good of the nurses to let me know that the oxygen was more of a precaution. I hate when something like that happens and then Dr.s and nurses don't bother to tell you that it's not life threatening, so you just lay there thinking that your baby is dying in the other room. (That's basically what happened with Chris...so I was really appreciative to the nurses this time). But I had to just lay in bed, I couldn't go to the nursery and see him because my legs were still numb, so I couldn't walk. Jon was laughing at me earlier because I didn't realize that I was making a grunting noise (after Justin was born) until Jon jumped up and was all "What's the matter? Are you hurting? What can I do?" I told him he could put my foot back on the bed. He looked at me like "What?" My foot had fallen off the bed and I was concentrating really hard (hence the "grunting"). I had been trying for the last 5 min. or so to put it back on the bed...my brain was telling my foot to move, but my foot didn't listen. LOL. Jon thought that was pretty funny. I don't know how some women do this alone. There is no way that I would survive labor without Jon there. He is the greatest support person EVER!
We took Ethan to Utah to the Dr. on Monday. They said they think that it is just a reaction to an earlier immunization that caused the bone to make extra calcium and cause the lump to form. They said it could take up to a year for the lump to go away, but we don't need to worry unless it starts to grow again. So good news there. I just don't know what to do with myself now that I'm not running around like a chicken with it's head cut off.
I got another great "birthday present"...when I came home from the hospital, Topher was nearly potty-trained. My Mom had been working with him while I was in the hospital with Justin. Don't I have the greatest Mom in the world? Yeah, I thought so too. <3
