I am SO tired of traveling...I'm glad to be home! On the other hand I already miss my family. We had loads of fun...and food! I was so excited to go home (I know it sounds silly) because I really missed having a ton of pies for Thanksgiving. Jon doesn't like pies so if we had it here I can only make as many pies as I can eat (which doesn't leave a lot of variety). And I was not disappointed with the amount of pies at my Grandma and Grandpa Savage's house...there was plenty to go around. We all (Eric, Stephanie, Michelle, Charlie, Jon and I) had a lot of fun playing Monopoly. I'm sure it's not "technically" the way it's supposed to be played, but we all had a lot of fun (especially Jon and I 'cause we won...we ended up playing couples at the end because we were all conspiring against the others and helping our spouses anyhow, so we made it official). We also (Everyone in the immediate family except Eric and Stephanie and Jon...he was with his family) went to "black friday". We decided to go to Cody since we wanted to spend time with Eric and Stephanie. I was thoroughly confused...everyone there was all "Oh, excuse me" and "Sorry, I wasn't watching" and if they heard you were looking for something they said "Oh, I think I saw that on this or that isle." I have NEVER seen a "black friday" like that. In fact I was thinking of the first "black friday" that Jon and I went to when we were married. We just decided to go home because I was pregnant with Christopher and everyone kept shoving me into my cart and it kept hitting me in the stomach. We decided that even if they were GIVING things away, no sale was worth losing our baby over. So with everyone being so polite we were in and out sooner than I usually am with just regular shopping. We went to the express line which went real quick because hardly anyone who goes to Wal*mart on "black friday" don't have few enough items to go into the express lane. :)
So I got to see all of my family except for Brian and his family. We might get to see them for a little while over Christmas. We are going to Luke and Sara's for Christmas, but Chris Lanterman is coming home for Christmas, so Jon was thinking about going to see him for the weekend. So if he goes and the roads from Livingston to Lovell are alright, then we can see my family for Christmas. Yeah! So now we are going to put up the tree today and hope we can find our decorations, if not, we are going to go buy new ones tomorrow.
And tomorrow we get to find out if we are going to have a boy or a girl! I still think that the baby is a girl. But we will see. I will update everyone when I find out what we are having. We are all very excited about it.
The most important part of the story is the ending...no one reads a book to get to the middle.

WHAT NOBODY TOLD ME ABOUT HAVING A BABY!
...that it was humanly possible to love someone else THIS much.
...that someone straight from God Himself could love ME this much.
...that so many songs would make me start sobbing uncontrollably ("Where are you going my little one...little one".
...that a child could wake me up 15 times before 3 am and I'd still want to hold him long after he fell asleep. (Depending on the reason he woke you up of course) :)
...that a sick child would be more of a worry and less of a burden.
...that fingers slammed in a door could hurt SO much when they weren't even my fingers.
...that by the time the 2nd child came along I would actually be afraid that I wouldn't have enough love to go around.
...that no matter how many children I have my love will multiply between them - not divide.
...that when someone gives you advice (aside from close family or close friends) the general rule should be to smile, nod your head and then ignore them...some people are just nosy and need something to complain about so they figure an easy target would be a hormonal woman who is questioning everything she does already...JUST IGNORE THEM!
...that I could ever value someone else's life over my own (Well, okay, my Mom told me that, but I didn't REALLY understand until I had my own children).
...that when I would leave my child with my Mom for the first time I would give her instructions on how to care for my child like she's a pre-teen who's never taken care of a child before - and she will just nod and listen because she knows she's raised a Mother who cares about her children. LOL
...that my Mother, who seemingly knew nothing when I was a teenager, would suddenly become the wisest woman in the world who knows EVERYTHING!
...that I would be confused when someone tells my child that the Savior loves them more than their parents because I just can't fathom ANYONE loving this child more than me.
...that a room full of happy, screaming, running, jumping, bouncing-off-the-wall, children could be relaxing.
...that I would finally realize that all those years when my Mom would say she loved me, when I was un-lovable to everyone else, she was actually telling the truth.
...that such a little body could hold such a giant spirit.
...how wonderful it would feel every morning when my child would say (verbally or otherwise) "I love you, Mom"
...how the word "Mom" can make you smile or make you cringe depending on the tone of voice it is said with.
...that a Johnson and Johnson commercial could make me cry.
...how many nights I would spend laying awake worrying about them when they're not even old enough to leave the house by themselves yet.
...that I would be one of those parents that cries when I think about my child growing up, going to school, dating (AHHHH!), going to college, going on a mission and then marrying a girl that will never be good enough for him...and he's not even potty-trained yet.
...that I would rely so heavily on what my parents taught me about my Heavenly Father.
...that I could ever be so grateful for the power of prayer and the power of the priesthood.
And the one thing that MANY Mothers have told me about having a baby...the worry and sleepless nights only get worse as they get older...Enjoy them while they are young, they grow up so fast...when your child needs you you'll know what to do. And one of my favorites: When I asked my Mother-in-law how she survived raising my husband (and with her sanity intact nonetheless) her answer: I prayed...A LOT!
Loves and hugs to all the Mothers who have raised such wonderful kids...and those of us who are raising kids and just praying we aren't screwing up too bad...and especially to the honorary Mothers who don't have children of their own, but are always there to step in when the Moms of the world are at wits end. <3

Ethan's Birthday...a day late!
Monday, November 17, 2008
To worry or not to worry...that is the question.
Everyday I am getting a little more worried and a little less worried about having a girl (No that's not an announcement...just a thought). When I watch the boys playing...or Christopher playing and Ethan trying to survive might be more accurate...I hope that I will have a boy - for the baby's sake anyhow. Then sometimes I don't worry so much. Like the other day when I was eating and I was resting my plate on my belly and Chris came up and told me "No, no, careful of baby" then he kissed my belly and patted it and said "Baby Okay?...Oh, good" then got down and went to play. It was very cute.
We are finally having Ethan's birthday today. We were going to have it on Saturday, but we ended up taking longer than we thought to run errands. So we decided to have it on Sunday (on his birthday), but then I had to go home teaching with Jon because his partner's family all got sick. And the last lady we went to talked and talked and talked (which was alright, I think she was just lonely), but Ethan was asleep by the time we got home, so we decided to have it today...hopefully it actually happens today. I will make sure to post pictures when it does happen. :)
I think we have pretty much settled on the house in Inkom. I'm not sure exactly what we are waiting for though. I think that someone has Jon talked into the idea that the housing market is going to all of the sudden PLUMMET in Inkom (Luke). I'm not holding my breath. Besides the market in Inkom isn't really in demand right now. As in there are only 3 houses in Inkom to choose from if we want to live there. And we kind of have our hearts set on the one (I think...anyone that knows Jon, knows that I kind of have to guess what he is thinking). I know I really want that one. And I prayed about it and it felt like it would be a good choice. So I guess we will see. When we get back from vacation I am going to have Sonnet (who for some reason LOVES house hunting) come with me to see the house. I think that would be fun anyhow. Maybe we will leave Jon at home with the kids (since they have all already seen it 2x). There are a few things that I want to look at. I found a web-site a while ago that has a list of things that annoy the heck out of you when you move into a new house, but you don't think to look for BEFORE you move in. So I will take that list with me and look. Plus this house has a wood fireplace, which will be great because Jon can get free wood from work that we have been using. And that would stink to go to all of that work cutting and chopping and splitting, etc. just to have to leave the wood here for someone else to use. And it's got a huge garage so we could store some wood in there so I don't have to actually go OUTSIDE in the snow to get the wood. That would be very nice too.
Other than that I have just been trying to reclaim my house. It seems a hurricain Topher and Ethan keep coming through. I read somewhere that housework is like tying beads with no knot in the end...so true. I have mostly reclaimed the bathroom, and I don't think Chris and Ethan's rooms should take too long. But all the rest is a different story. Pray for me...I'm going in.

My Babies
Well, since we decided to come home early for Thanksgiving we have to postpone my Doctor's appointment. So we won't know until December 01,2008 if we are having a boy or a girl. We are curious what everyone thinks the baby is going to be. (I'm not sure what Jon thinks, but I think that it is a girl). If it is a boy then hopefully we will have a name picked out by the time the baby comes ;) Jon and I have a hard time agreeing on boys' names. If it is a girl we are going to name her Emmalee. The middle name is still up for decision. We are thinking either Elizabeth or Rae. But if anyone has any good girls' names that go with Emmalee I would love to hear them.
Oh, these boys though. It's so hard watching them grow up and remembering that they are getting older. Trying to decide how rough is too rough for the boys to play...and how high is too high to climb...and deciding if they are playing or fighting (I understand now Mama.)...and trying to decide if they are alright playing where they are or if I need to get them down because they are going to fall...and the list goes on and on and on. Where did my babies go? Christopher will be starting Sunbeams in just over a month and Ethan will be going into nursery in May; the same time I am going to be having the baby...I'm never going to get to listen in Relief Society again. :) Ethan has enough balance to be walking, but he's a little chicken. He'll be standing without holding onto anything for a long time, and he's alright until he realizes that he isn't holding on to anything so he sits down.
I am trying to convince Jon that we will have enough to move before May. I really don't want to be packing right up until my water breaks, then I go to the hospital and Jon will have to leave me after I have the baby so that he can move everything by himself because he will NEVER ask for help moving, and then I have to go to a different house and hope that he set everything up the way I wanted it or I will have to just do it all over again and I would like Chris to be around the kids he will be going to school with. (Josephine would have a heart attack with the size of THAT run on sentance hahaha) We are deciding if we should send Christopher to preschool or not. In general, I'm not a big fan or supporter of preschool, but with his speech the way it is I think it would help for him to be around other kids more and to be around people that can't "read his mind" to know what he wants. I have to keep reminding him to use real words. He will be babbling and not saying any real words and I know what he wants, so I have to remind myself NOT to get it for him until he asks for it in English words. Ethan's speech is coming along nicely. He's doing the sign language pretty well, but he is also starting to use real words. He will put his arms up in the air and say "aaah-gaw" (all gone). He has asked for more food by actually saying "mo". On the other hand, living this close to the high school, I think maybe I should be grateful that Christopher hasn't picked up on words like I was wanting him to. ;) Between noon and 1:30 and between 3:00 and 4:00 they aren't allowed to even be outside...I never knew that the "F-word" could be gramatically used correctly THAT many times in one sentance.
Man, I hope everyone cleared their calander to read this blog. Sorry, it's long. But atleast now everyone knows what's going on in the Egeland's world.

HOME!
I am very excited about getting to go home for Thanksgiving. Then I don't have to worry about house hunting for a week. That in and of itself will make that week GREAT! Luke says that with the economy the way it is we don't need to rush...and I don't want to, but there were 5 houses for sale in Inkom (we want to live there WAY more than Pocatello) and now there are 3. One is in a new subdivision so we would have neighbors 2 feet from our house...if I wanted that I would live in Pocatello. And the other is only $73,000 (I think) to "reflect the work that still needs to be done" so not really into that one. And then there's the one that we are looking at right now. (The one that my parents saw with us). I know our realtors will be very upset if we get that one...it was the first one we looked at, then we drug them all over the place and then go with the first one that we looked at. Hehehe...oh, well...that's their job right?
So we finally have almost all of our Christmas shopping done...at least the stuff that we need to have before we come down for Thanksgiving. I'm very excited to see all the family too. Hopefully we will know if the baby is a boy or a girl before we come down. Of course we may not know because we decided to come down a little early so I will have to reschedule my Dr. appointment so we will see what happens.

Karen is going CRAZY!!!!!
So, I've been up since 4:20 am. I finally decided to give up and try to blog myself to sleep. :)
We went to look at houses (yet again) yesterday. The house we were looking at looked better with stuff in it. I still really liked it though. Although Jon thought of a new problem. The downstairs looked perfect to me...of course that's because I'm 5'3". Jon, however, being 6'2" decided that if we have enough children to fill the house (I hope so, but we'll see) our system would have to be tall kids on the top 2 levels and short kids on the bottom or he's certain that the children will be living with chronic back pain for the rest of their lives. Only one room, I think, would do that to the children and lets be serious, the children have my genes in them too...we're bound to have one short child...although the first two don't look very promising on the "short gene" theory. :P Plus, the funny floorboards in one of the downstairs bedrooms, turns out the realtor (not ours, it was theirs) lied. He/She told our realtors that it was just "crappy construction" (Which made me a little iffy anyway because the entire house was rebuilt in 2002 (minus the foundation) and I'm assuming that they had the same contractors build the entire house. Buuuuuuttttt, when Jon asked the owner about it (they were in the process of moving while we were there) and the owner said that the room flooded a while ago....hmmmm, I wonder who's telling the truth? I think I will take the owner's side on that one. Stupid, lying realtor...although his story didn't sound much better either. So, it turns out that since they are already moving and having to sell it for less than they owe on it, the bank has to approve any lower offer, and seriously... And to add to that, someone put an offer on the house. So our realtors said that if we want the house it would be a good idea to put in an offer. The people who made the offer told the owners, the owners came back with another offer and they haven't heard back. But I talked to Jon and I told him that if this was a $20 or even maybe a $100-$200 purchase I would probably rush the decision and if I decided later that it wasn't such a good decision we would be out some money...but $139,900 is a little different than $20. If we rush it and it's a bad decision, you're just kind of stuck with it. Plus, since the owners aren't making any money on it anyway they are just going to let it go into foreclosure and they aren't planning on fixing anything. I told Jon that if we got the house, the first thing we would have to do is put some plywood or something over the pet door because Chris would escape in the middle of the night. Sure enough first thing he did when he saw that was try and climb out of it.
The other houses that we saw were nice too though. (Sorry, I forgot my camera and we still haven't been able to hook up our scanner, so no pics). There was one I kind of liked, but it only has 5 bedrooms and 2048 sq. feet and 2 bathrooms, all of which would not be a problem but that means (compared to the house on Park) we get 2 less rooms, almost 1,000 square feet less and 1 less bathroom...all for only $10,000 more. (That was with a sarcastic tone, just FYI). And yes, I did say MORE, otherwise I would be thinking about it way more. Of course it was within walking distance of the elementary school which means a TON more child molestors. That's what I've noticed while looking at houses (and it scares me to DEATH!) When you go to familywatchdog.net (I think it's .net) to check for the child molestors/rapists/"other" offenders you can usually tell EXACTLY where the bounderies are for the "you can't live this close to schools" are. There will be the school and then a really really little circle around the school and then a TON of child molesters all within a block or 2 or 3 of all the other ones. It's rediculous! Why do they get to live even that close? I would also like to know the nature of the crime. Because if it was an 18 year old that got "caught" by their 17 years and 300 days old girlfriend's parents who just were not so pleased so they thought they would ruin that boys life...I would not worry so much about that. But all that is a completely different story altogether.
My next favorite house was a 5 bedroom 2 bathroom house. The master bedroom was really 2 bedrooms but they wanted a bigger room, so they just knocked the wall down in between the 2 rooms. And the laundry room was really big...you know you're a house wife when you get as excited as I did about a LAUNDRY ROOM! :) hehehe. It has a really big deck and we would need to add a small piece of fence to make the whole back yard fenced in. (If I remember right) this house was on a quiet street too, not much traffic. So we could teach the kids to ride bikes in the middle of the road like you're supposed to do. That one was only $135,000.
So we are just going to wait and pray. If any of those houses are meant to be for us, then they will be there when we make a decision and are ready to start the "house buying process". Which is rapidly losing all the glamor it had at first. We are still looking for houses in Inkom. We still kind of liked the one that we saw with a GINORMOUS back yard, but for now we will pray about where we will be the happiest and go from there.
Wow, this has to be the longest blog I've ever written. Good job Ranee' now I'm never going to write in my journal again...I'm telling the prophet that it's all your fault. ;)
THE HOUSE!!!!
OK, so first off I don't know why this is all underlined and why I can't seem to do anything about it, but it's really annoying me. Second of all This is the house that we are thinking about buying it's in Pocatello instead of Inkom...but we found out that we will save 10-20 THOUSAND dollars by living in Pocatello instead of Inkom (they are about 15 min away from eachother).
This is the Kid's bedroom (One of them), Chris loved this room, so it will probablly be his.
This is my favorite (although you can't see my favorite part) I loved the closet in this room! This room had a walk-in closet that (I kid you not) could be used as a small room. In fact they actually had a bed and dresser in the closet and had PLENTY of room left.
This is the Dining Room. It was really nice because a lot of the houses we saw don't really have an area for the table and if they did, the table would be really in the way. This one wasn't. It's great.
This is the outside of the 7 bedroom/3 bathroom 3,000 square foot house with the fenced in back yard. I really hope we get this house, but we will pray about it and see if that's the one we are supposed to be in. But that's what we were doing yesterday...that's the fun part. Looking and "Oh, we could do this or we could do that" and "This would make a great...." The headache part is yet to come. We are going to look at it a few more times though before we buy...obviously.

House Hunting and such
Okay, so Ranee' talked me into getting a blog. So here it is. We are going house hunting today...or should I say I've been house hunting for a month and a half....we are going to LOOK at the houses today. Our Realtors drive us to the houses in a limo so that we get to talk on the way. It was fun the first time because I'd never been in a limo before. After that though, it's just a little sickening riding sideways in a car. I'm not sure if the baby doesn't like it, or if I just don't like it, but we might just have to start following them in our car.
Topher and Ethan aren't really sure why we keep going to other houses and then walk from one room to the other to the other to the other. But hopefully this will be the last time they have to move. I know I'm sick of moving if they aren't.
