The most important part of the story is the ending...no one reads a book to get to the middle.

Jon's birthday
Yesterday was Jon’s birthday. He had a GREAT birthday (computers don’t do sarcasm very well, so I will let you know…that was sarcastic). His parents had been down to see Justin (and the rest of us…but mostly Justin LOL) they left in the morning. Since it was Memorial Day, Jon had the day off, so he decided that it would be a good time to do the online driver’s school. He got a speeding ticket earlier this year (I know….big surprise huh?) and if he took this online course then the ticket wouldn’t go on his record. And (technically) the course took a minimum of 3 hours…it took WAY longer than that though because he had to stop every 20 minutes or so because our stupid computer would freeze up. So then he would have to wait for it to reboot and all that good stuff. So it took pretty much all day. Jon wanted to go to Apple Bees for his birthday dinner; so when we finally got there (at around 8:00) we were a little hungry. So we ordered our food; Jon wanted the steak and shrimp…he likes his steak a little pink in the middle…so that’s how he ordered it. I ordered a hamburger and 2 kids meals with milk for the boys. So the waiter brings out our drinks…and spills nearly the entire cup of Chris’ milk RIGHT INTO JON’S LAP. So the waiter brings him some towels, and the dry towel must have been the dusting rag because Jon got to smell like pledge after that. Then they brought our food. Personally, if I am having a steak, I like it well done. I would rather have it a little burned than ANY pink in the middle…but that steak was so burned that even I wouldn’t have eaten it. Of course now days you’re afraid to send it back either. Not only was the steak burned beyond recognition but it was only about --------------------------------------- this big, I’m not exaggerating either…that was a tiny steak. And my burger was also burned…it was crunchy…I don’t like my burgers crunchy. They even burned the bun (that takes talent) and the milk shake was about as thick as milk…but at least they didn’t burn the milk shake too. Hehehe. I felt worse for Jon though because #1 HE was the one that got milk in his lap and #2 this was his birthday dinner. So he asked if we could go to Chinese later in the week for a “make up birthday dinner”. I told him that would be more than fine. Then after that we got to go do his favorite thing in the world (sarcasm again)…shopping. We needed to go, we were completely out of milk and bread and nearly out of a few other things. So by the time we got back he had missed his Star Craft game (I felt a little guilty for not really feeling guilty about that though…it’s a terrible thing to say, but it’s true). Well, maybe we could count the Star Trek movie as part of his birthday. While Jon’s parents were down, they babysat while we went to the movies. Anyone who likes the original Star Trek would love this movie…and those who don’t. I’m not a big fan of the original Star Trek, I’m more of a TNG type. But it was really funny. Just the right amount of action, the right amount of romance and the right amount of comedy…one too many “sex scenes” though…which is to say they had ONE (it was less than 30 seconds long…but that‘s about 30 seconds more than they needed). They found out important information in that scene that was important to the plot of the movie…but as far as I’m concerned they could have found out that information in a less smutty sort of way. All in all it was really good movie though. I’m definitely going to get it when it’s out on video. I found my new favorite line from a movie in this movie. They had Spock and a future 80 year old Spock talking to each other and when they were getting ready to say good bye to each other the older Spock says “I would bid you farewell with the traditional Vulcan farewell, but that seems needless and self-serving. So instead I will say (doing the “live long and prosper” hand gesture) “Farewell, and Good Luck”…that doesn’t sound as funny out of context…but it was really funny. Other than that, not too much has been going on here lately.
