(This stupid thing just erased my whole blog entry...so if I leave out some information...sorry).
We finally had our baby on May 01st. A boy. Justin Michael Egeland. 7 pounds , 19-1/4" long. I think that he is tied (a 3-way tie of course) for the cutest baby I have ever seen in my life! LOL. He looks just like some of Jon's baby pictures. Jon said it was about time we had a baby that looked like him. It looks like he might have the darker skin too, but we will have to wait and see. I really like the hospital too (I delivered at Evanston...thank you to everyone who warned me about Rock Springs hospital). That is such a great hospital. It was the first time that I have ever had a good Doctor and good Nurses. With Chris My doctor was good but the nurse was a yahoo. With Ethan the doctor was a dip-weed and the nurse was the best nurse ever. At Evanston every single medical person that I had to deal with was wonderful. Not a rotten one in the bunch. And I LOVE the way they do anesthesia. In Butte they just gave you enough to make the labor pain almost bareable...and then they let it wear off just before the "pushing stage". I thought that's how they all did it. But this time I had a continuous epidural. I really really really like those. ;) When the nurse came in and asked if I had felt any change in pressure in my abdomen, I told her I had not. So she said she was going to check me to see how much longer I had. She started to check, but instead turned toward the door and yelled "Dr. Evans! We need you in here NOW!" It scared me a little 'cause I didn't know if something was wrong. Then the nurse said "Well, we have a head of hair." then 2 1/2 pushes later Jon was delivering a baby. (I know, how lucky am I? This was by far my easiest delivery). The Dr. had to cut the cord though because it was wrapped around his neck. I only got to hold him for a few minutes though because they had to take him to the nursery to give him some oxygen (he's fine now). I thought it was good of the nurses to let me know that the oxygen was more of a precaution. I hate when something like that happens and then Dr.s and nurses don't bother to tell you that it's not life threatening, so you just lay there thinking that your baby is dying in the other room. (That's basically what happened with Chris...so I was really appreciative to the nurses this time). But I had to just lay in bed, I couldn't go to the nursery and see him because my legs were still numb, so I couldn't walk. Jon was laughing at me earlier because I didn't realize that I was making a grunting noise (after Justin was born) until Jon jumped up and was all "What's the matter? Are you hurting? What can I do?" I told him he could put my foot back on the bed. He looked at me like "What?" My foot had fallen off the bed and I was concentrating really hard (hence the "grunting"). I had been trying for the last 5 min. or so to put it back on the bed...my brain was telling my foot to move, but my foot didn't listen. LOL. Jon thought that was pretty funny. I don't know how some women do this alone. There is no way that I would survive labor without Jon there. He is the greatest support person EVER!
We took Ethan to Utah to the Dr. on Monday. They said they think that it is just a reaction to an earlier immunization that caused the bone to make extra calcium and cause the lump to form. They said it could take up to a year for the lump to go away, but we don't need to worry unless it starts to grow again. So good news there. I just don't know what to do with myself now that I'm not running around like a chicken with it's head cut off.
I got another great "birthday present"...when I came home from the hospital, Topher was nearly potty-trained. My Mom had been working with him while I was in the hospital with Justin. Don't I have the greatest Mom in the world? Yeah, I thought so too. <3
